Cancer Dog Dave: draft day

About Dave

Dave was my 9 and a half year old rescue Boston Terrier. He was from a puppymill originally, and met none of the AKC standards for a Boston - he was tall and muscular, but had that Boston personality through and through.

Dave was diagnosed with stage Vb lymphosarcoma on January 29th, 2008. The prognosis, assuming chemo was successful, was nine months - October 2008. He quickly went into remission, and was a trooper through his five months of weekly chemo treatment. He remained in remission until September 22, 2008, when we were informed that the cancer had returned. We decided to treat with the combination of holistics, Prednisone and love, and he was given a two month prognosis. At that time, he was alive and well, and continued that way for many more months. Dave crossed the rainbow bridge on May 11th.

draft day

Today is one of Mike's favorite days of the year: NFL draft day. Dave enjoys it, too, because it

usually entails lazy men sitting on the couch for a number of hours, with chances of delicious morsels of food being dropped. Some may say their time is too precious to sit and watch a rather monotonous seven hours of football coverage, but not Mike and Dave. They love it!

Dave has had a great week, but we seemed to tire him out a bit. We've been walking, playing out back and enjoying the 80+ degree weather for part of the week. I think he'll be happy when we're back at work Monday.
