Cancer Dog Dave: woo hoo!!!

About Dave

Dave was my 9 and a half year old rescue Boston Terrier. He was from a puppymill originally, and met none of the AKC standards for a Boston - he was tall and muscular, but had that Boston personality through and through.

Dave was diagnosed with stage Vb lymphosarcoma on January 29th, 2008. The prognosis, assuming chemo was successful, was nine months - October 2008. He quickly went into remission, and was a trooper through his five months of weekly chemo treatment. He remained in remission until September 22, 2008, when we were informed that the cancer had returned. We decided to treat with the combination of holistics, Prednisone and love, and he was given a two month prognosis. At that time, he was alive and well, and continued that way for many more months. Dave crossed the rainbow bridge on May 11th.

woo hoo!!!

Dave's visit went well! His weight is up slightly, the bloodwork was good and his lymph nodes are normal! I'm so relieved. We spoke with one of our favorite nurses (Dave's too, I think), and she remarked how great he's doing. Regarding any change in his lymph nodes, she said that it would be a noticable change (her words were "oh sh!t change"), and that it wouldn't be a gradual thing. I don't know why exactly, but that put me at ease. He goes back in three weeks for bloodwork.
